2015-2016 Mustang GT (5.0 V4)
The sixth generation of the iconic pony car brought on a complete overhaul of the Mustang line up while celebrating its 50th anniversary of being in production. The S550 Mustang came with three engine options: a 2.3L turbocharged 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine, a 3.7L V6, and an improved 5.0L V8, offering 310 HP, 305 HP, and 435 HP respectively. While all three greatly benefit from 2015 aftermarket Mustang modifications, the factory 5.0L also benefits from technology developed for the Boss Mustang, such as improved heads, stiffer cam springs, and improved valves. In 2015, Ford ended the use of Live Rear Axles (LRA) in the Mustang and switched to using Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) in all production Mustangs. By using the outgoing S197 Boss Mustang as a bench mark for handling and performance tests, the goal was for the 2015 Mustang GT to outperform it, and outperform the Boss it did. From the factory Ford did not offer any special edition S550 Mustangs in 2015, only the optional performance package available for all engine options. 2015 Mustang parts and performance modifications are commonplace, as they are with older generations of Mustangs. 2015 Mustang EcoBoost parts are filling shelves and forcing GT owners to boost horsepower or risk losing.
